You want to visit Blue Lagoon and one of the Croatian islands but you want to go with a big boat instead of a speedboat? Our third Blue Lagoon excursion is perfect for families with kids and senior citizens.
However¸ since the boat is bigger and slower¸ the excursion is longer. It lasts from 9:00 till 18:00 and we stop in Maslinica and Duga¸ besides Blue Lagoon. The boat has two decks. Bottom deck with wooden tables and benches as well as sun deck above.
Our first stop is Duga bay on island Čiovo. It is beautiful, peaceful bay with pebble beach and charming atmosphere, best suited for family vacation. The beach is private and reserved only for our guests. You have about 1 hour of free time for swimming, snorkeling and sunbathing.
After relaxing on the beach, it is time for lunch. Lunch which is included in the price¸ is served in a private restaurant at Duga bay. You can choose between meat¸ fish or vegetarian menu. Fish menu includes mackerel¸ meat menu includes chicken¸ while vegetarian menu includes mixed veggies on the grill.
Besides the food¸ drink is also included. You can choose between juice¸ wine or water. Also, you have to tell us which menu you want for lunch, at least one day before the tour.
Since we go with a big boat¸ we can’t stop on the shore. Instead¸ we anchor in the middle of the Lagoon. So¸ if you want to go swimming or snorkeling in crystal clear sea of Blue Lagoon¸ you have to jump from the boat or use the stairs¸ located on the side of the ship.
Although snorkeling gear on the boat is free for you to use, we advise that you bring your own, if possible. We have limited amount of masks and snorkels on the boat and not everyone might get one, if everyone wants to snorkel.
In case you don’t want to get wet¸ you can stay on board and enjoy in the view of the lagoon from the sun deck¸ while taking pictures and soaking up the atmosphere. After relaxing and swimming in the Lagoon for one hour, we are off to Maslinica.
This small settlement, once a fishing village, slowly turned into a tourist and nautical center of the island welcoming each year an increasing number of guests and lovers of orchards. Maslinica on Croatian means olive. It is situated in a bay on the western part of the island Šolta.
First features you notice upon arrival are old houses made of stone and pine wood on the south side complemented with a historical castle Martinis Marchi which is now a luxury hotel with marina for about 60 boats.
There are also several restaurants to satisfy your appetite as well as cafes and taverns to quench your thirst. Although beaches in Maslinica aren’t attractive as Blue-Lagoon¸ the town is very interesting for sightseeing¸ while it’s quiet and warm atmosphere blends in overall feel of the tour.
So¸ if you want to move away from busy tourist destinations and you’re looking for a quieter place on some of the islands¸ look no further. On our way back to Split¸ you will enjoy in panoramic view of the surrounding islands and in beatiful view of Split from the seaside.
